Motorists can pay parking fees using mobile phone app from October 1st. The Parking.sg app will be available in Apple App Store and Google Play Store; this app can be used at 1,100 carparks which require parking coupons. Through this app, motorists can use their credit or debit cards to pay parking charges.
By the end of this year, this scheme will be extended to motorcycles and heavy vehicles said the Housing Board, the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) and the Government Technology Agency of Singapore in a joint statement on Friday (Sept 29).
The agencies said that carparks can still use Paper coupons even if the new app is launched.
This app will calculate the parking fees based on 30-minute blocks automatically, if motorists end their session early they will be charged per minute basis and can get a refund. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has announced this app on National Day Rally.
